This gear of an old-timer showcases perfectly why 3D printing is so beneficial. The original gear that was used for the old timer broke and was no longer available on the market. Therefore, the only option was remodelling it as a 3D-model based on the broken gear an 3D printing it. In a first phase we printed a prototype in Nylon (MJF PA12) to assure the functionality of the part. After testing the functionality of the part, we proceeded to print it in aluminium (SLM AlSI10mg).
