This 120 cm tall sculpture of the iconic “X” from Luxembourg’s nation branding “Let’s make it happen” was fully engineered and manufactured in-house using cost-efficient FDM technology.
Each red and blue segment of the X was individually printed in PETG and later mechanically connected to two central 10 mm acrylic glass panels using M8 x 210 mm bolts and heat-set inserts for optimal structural integrity.
The entire sculpture is anchored on a heavy 40 mm thick black-dyed MDF base, chosen specifically for stability and resistance to tipping. For maximum strength, two M20 bolts were embedded 15 cm deep into the lower X-elements and fastened into the base, ensuring the structure remains firmly in place.
This project showcases how even large and expressive installations can be realized affordably and reliably with FDM 3D printing, while maintaining a bold and professional appearance.
