Enclosures and covers

What we did?

Pre-process:

  • CAD Design

3D Printing:

  • Nylon (MJF PA12)

Post-process:

  • Black finish
  • Assembly

With 3D printing, you can quickly and easily create custom enclosures and covers for your projects. They can be customized depending on your application to feature various sealing and closing solutions, as well as resistance to specific environments.

As seen in the image below, we created a custom box for a circuit board. If your project has tight volume constraints, and you only need a couple of enclosures, 3D printing is the best solution.

The enclosure has integrated standoffs for the board and the correct openings for cables and the potentiometer. Any mounting system can be easily added to the box. In this case, we chose to secure it with two screws. Additionally, it would be possible to add seals to obtain a watertight enclosure.

Below, you can also see a cover that we created for an engine air intake. The cover was designed to fit perfectly on the box that already existed. It is maintained shut with a screw and insert. This was the best solution, as the customer needed it to be often re-opened to change out the filter.

On the bottom of the cover, we included a support to install the filter itself. The cover was designed to be air-tight around the edges thanks to a seal that gets glued on.
